BONE WARS, THE WAR OF THE BONES
50,00 €
A challenge of publications and recognitions
The second half of the 19th century, American paleontology was characterized by the fierce competition between Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Charles Marsh in the discovery of ancient fossils: hence the name of the bone wars. To gain the upper hand over their opponent, both resorted to underhanded and dishonest methods, including theft, bribery and even the destruction of dinosaur bone sites to prevent the other from gaining possession of the discovery.
A strategic game with a paleontology theme
1 to 4 researchers loyal to Marsh or Cope
Suitable for experts, for games of approximately 90 minutes
Bone Wars is a strategy and hand management game created by Wim Goossens, author of Oak. Inspired by the period of American paleontology characterized by the competition between Marsh and Cope, the game puts players in the shoes of researchers loyal to one of the two paleontologists in conflict or independent, depending on the strategy adopted.
The main mechanic of the game is the action cards, which can be played in the spaces under the player board in two different ways: to activate your own excavation team, finding fossils and new species, or your own paleontologist, publishing articles and refuting opponents' theories. With each publication, researchers will gain the favor of Marsh or Cope, along with other actions during the game.
